drive on through

Date posted:

move the cursor forward
don't let it drag behind
just breathe in and see
what will come with time

wring the tears and pain out
devastation to sublime
no odometer readings
of what is left behind

drive on through drive on through

re-arrange the letters
no return, just space
regain some composure
and 'Lord, lift up my face'

still the futile tremors
dispatch the devil's lies
let the light consume me
come on let it, try

drive on through
drive on through

and in those moments
when the past forgets the after
I need to remember
there is a shepherd in these pastures

and in those moments
when the burden seems too heavy
I need to remember
I am free, there is no levy

and drive on through
just drive on through

draw myself some anchors
some things to stand the tide
peace and hope abounding
amidst the storm inside

and drive on through
just drive on through
